November 14, 2011

RTE Sports Presenter Tracy Piggott opens the new outdoor recreation series Tracks and Trails this Sunday with a stunning walk, along the River Suir in County Tipperary.
This programme, is the first of five programmes  in the new series which features well know personalities including Comedian Colin Murphy, Meteorologist and Presenter, Evelyn Cusack, Broadcaster Jim Sherwin and Senator /Businessman, Feargal Quinn, taking on the challenge of walking, cycling and paddling on some fantastic trails around the country.

The series, which is produced by Sherwin Media and supported by the Irish Sports Council with a number of other partners, was developed to follow the popular first series which aired on RTE in 2010. The National Trails Office, a unit of the Council, is very active in supporting the development of natural infrastructure for walkers, cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts, both from Ireland and for overseas”.

Areas being features in the new series include South Tipperary, the Burren in Co. Clare, Achill Island in Co. Mayo, Lough Erne in Co. Fermanagh and Howth in Co. Dublin – all of which have some fantastic trails waiting to be explored.
