The programme is broken into two streams – Buntús Play and Buntús Multi-Sport

Buntús Multi-Sport

is aimed at 7-11 year olds. It acts as an introduction to net/wall activities and games whereby teams invade each others space. The Buntús Programme is nationally coordinated by the Irish Sports Council’s Participation Unit and is delivered locally by the Sports Partnerships and seeks to: –

  • Raise the profile of physical education and sport
  • Improve in-service training opportunities for teachers
  • Assist governing bodies of sport (GBs) to develop and deliver appropriate support for teachers
  • Provide enjoyable and meaningful activity for children
  • Support delivery of the National Curriculum
  • Demonstrating activities

The three key components of the programme – training, resource cards and equipment – are designed to provide easy to understand, and accessible support to give children a fun, but high quality introduction to sport.
